Hello! I’m Marie, owner of Pretty Bakes by Marie - a business I established in April, 2021. I specialise in creating bespoke designs, unique to each client. Every cake is baked from scratch in my kitchen, based in Ifold, Nr. Loxwood. I use the highest quality ingredients, including free range eggs and natural flavours to ensure your cake is not only a stunning centrepiece but also tastes just as amazing!

I pride myself on attention to detail and a personal touch from your first contact, to the collection or delivery of your cake.

My kitchen is registered with Chichester District Council and has been awarded the top 5* hygiene rating. I hold a valid Food Safety & Hygiene Level 2 certificate and an FSA Food Allergy Awareness certificate.

All of our cakes are made fresh to order for each customer. You can either choose a design that you have seen in our gallery or we are happy to work with you to create something completely personalised to your needs.

When you get in touch, please give us as much detail as possible so we can give you an accurate quote. As a starting point, some information we require for your booking is:

The collection date.
The number of portions required (this will determine the right size cake).
The style of cake you are after (including who it’s for/ is it a special age?).
Any allergens we should be made aware of.
A budget you would like to stick to.

In order to secure your celebration cake order, we require a non-refundable £30 deposit. The deposit must be sent within 24 hours of enquiring or the requested date may be offered to another customer. No dates are held without this. The remaining balance must be paid 1 week prior to the collection date. For orders with less than 2 weeks notice, payment is required in full.

Please give at least 2 weeks notice for your design in case anything needs to be specially ordered in.

Cakes can either be collected from our home kitchen in Ifold, or we offer a local delivery service (subject to availability) at a rate of £7 (further distances will be priced according to location).

These are tall cakes to allow space for decorations.

Portion guides are for a dessert or small party size.

Starting prices are based on a 3-layer Victoria cake:

*Extra add-ons - personalised toppers/charms, sugar paste work, edible prints, fresh flowers, dried flowers, fresh fruit, macarons, iced biscuits, chocolates, sweets, animals & toy figures.

Cake Flavours

Victoria

Classic vanilla sponge cake with vanilla buttercream – strawberry or raspberry conserve.

Rich chocolate

A rich chocolate sponge cake with chocolate buttercream filling

Variations – dark chocolate ganache, milk chocolate ganache, cherry conserve.

Lemon

A lemon sponge cake filled with homemade lemon curd and a zesty lemon buttercream.

Salted caramel

Classic vanilla sponge cake layered with a salted caramel buttercream.

White chocolate & raspberry

White chocolate sponge cake with fresh raspberries, filled with raspberry conserve and white chocolate buttercream.

Carrot cake

A moist carrot cake, spiced with cinnamon filled with cream cheese frosting

or a zesty orange buttercream.

Coffee cake

Coffee sponge with walnuts or hazelnuts (optional) and layered with a coffee buttercream.

Cookies and cream

Vanilla sponge with Oreo cookie pieces and layered with vanilla buttercream & crushed Oreo’s.

Red velvet

A deep red sponge made with buttermilk and a hint of chocolate, layered with cream cheese frosting.

Marble

Chocolate and vanilla sponge swirled together to make a marble effect, filled with vanilla or chocolate buttercream.

Lotus Biscoff

Vanilla sponge filled with a Lotus Biscoff buttercream.

GLUTEN FREE AND VEGAN OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE ON REQUEST.

PLEASE NOTE: PRODUCTS THAT CONTAIN GLUTEN, MILK & NUTS (INCLUDING PEANUTS) ARE HANDLED IN OUR KITCHEN. WHILST GREAT CARE WILL BE TAKEN TO AVOID CROSS CONTAMINATION, THERE IS NO GUARANTEE.

ICED BISCUITS

Iced biscuits can be fully customised and make a perfect treat for any special occasion. They are also a great gift in children’s party bags (to match the theme),

or for wedding favours and events. They can be packaged individually in cellophane bags and tied with a ribbon or presented in gift boxes with a clear lid.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book?

We advise booking your cake with plenty of notice as we often get booked up several weeks in advance. We try to accommodate last minute requests if our schedule allows it. Please get in touch to find out our availability for your particular date.

What dietary requirements do you cater for?

Please let us know when placing an order if any of your guests have special dietary requirements or allergies. Cakes can be prepared without using gluten or nuts but please be aware that all of our cakes are prepared in a kitchen that uses these ingredients. Therefore, we are unable to fully guarantee our cakes are completely “free from” these ingredients due to cross contamination (although we will put in all measures to avoid this). We can also provide cakes for vegans.

Do you deliver?

We provide a delivery service for celebration cakes within the local area at a flat rate of £7. Please note that delivery is subject to availability.

For wedding cakes, delivery and set up charges will be calculated and given in your quote.

How do I transport and store my cake?

Your cake is baked as close to your order date as possible to ensure it is fresh for your wedding/event. Buttercream cakes should be stored in a fridge and taken out up to 1 hour before eating. They should be kept away from heat sources and direct sunlight. All cakes are supplied in cake boxes. Please carry the box from the bottom only, being careful to not push in the sides or the lid as this may damage any decorations. Cakes should be transported either in the footwell or boot of the car. Please use the air conditioning in the summer or on warm days.

Do you have a minimum order value for cakes?

For celebration cakes, we have a minimum order value of £75 for drip cakes and £90 for custom cakes. For weddings, the minimum order value is £300. For smaller orders, we offer cupcakes starting from £20 for 6.
